Fish and Chips

After an extra long lenten season, I found myself at the grocery store last Friday night still craving fish and chips. Unfortunately, I couldn't think of a restaurant that could fulfill that craving...so I set out to find a recipe to try at home. I was in luck, and now, so are you!

Doesn't that picture just make your mouth water??? Me too!! I honestly got so excited to eat the minute I flipped the fish and saw how deliciously crisp and brown it looked! Just awesome.

The Beer Battered Fish recipe is super easy. I made it the first time with Cod (although, I do think it would better with Walleye). And aside from the fish, I pretty much have all the necessary ingredients on hand on any given day. All you need is:

  • Fish

  • Flour

  • Baking Powder

  • Beer

  • Egg

It comes out flakey, and crispy, and light, and delicious!

Follow that up with simple French Fries (or freedom fries if you are one of those weirdos like my husband). They are the perfect side dish!

Don't worry, if you're like me and think that the tarter sauce makes the fish, I have you covered as well. No need to buy the pre-made stuff at the store that just can't compete with restaurants. Here is a home-made Tarter Sauce recipe I found that met my craving! Try it out!
