Italian Sausage Bombers

Ingredients

2-3 pound Italian Sausage (links; brat size)

28 ounce Tomato Sauce

6 ounce Tomato Paste

1/2 tsp Salt

2 tsp Oregano

1 tsp Onion Powder

1/4 tsp Pepper

1-2 Jalapenos (or other hot pepper, optional)

2 Green Pepper


Directions

Par boil sausages for 2 minutes in shallow pan with 1/2 inch of water in the bottom.
Heat tomato sauce and tomato paste in a slow cooker.
Add all seasonings.
Add sausage and slow cook on low 4-5 hours or on high for about 3 hours; stirring regularly.
Approximately 1 hour before sausages are done, add hot peppers and green peppers.

Serve on buns with some sauce and peppers.

I am not a fan in general of most tomato sauces, and italian food in general. But this is one of my husband's favorite recipes. Great for a picnic or casual party in the summar, great for a cold winters day inside.

Definitely worth trying if you want something a little different from the standard burger or brat.
