Upsidedown Apple Pie
Adapted From: Mary Kristopeit


Ingredients

1/2 cup Butter

1/2 cup Pecans

3/4 cup Brown Sugar

2 Pie Crusts (9 inch)

1/3 cup Sugar

2 Tbs Flour

1/2 tsp Cinnamon

5 cup Apple (pared and sliced)

2 Tbs Cream


Directions

Preheat oven to 375°.
Spread 1/4 cup butter on bottom and up sides of 9î pie pan.
Press pecans (rounded side down) into butter.
Pat 1/2 cup brown sugar over pecans.
Place pie crust over brown sugar.
Press into place and trim even with the rim of the pie pan.
In a small bowl combine sugar, flour and cinnamon.
Arrange half the apples on the crust. Sprinkle with half the sugar mixture.
Repeat with remaining apples and remaining sugar mixture.
Place remaining pastry on top.
Make slits for vents.
Place pie on baking sheet to catch juices.
Bake at 375° for 25 minutes.
Cover the edges with foil.
Bake 20-25 minutes more.
Cool 5 minutes.
Loosen edges of pie carefully and invert onto serving platter.
Cool completely.

Optional Sauce:
Melt 1/4 cup butter in small pan.
Stir in 1/4 cup brown sugar and cream.
Slowly bring to a boil.
Remove from heat.

Serve with warm sauce and/or with ice cream.
