WELCOME!!!

My First Blog...

Welcome to my website everyone.

The idea for this website first came a few years ago while in Germany visiting a friend (below).

Me and the German :)

I really wanted to make a nice dinner to thank my friend and her family for their hospitality. Unfortunately, I had no recipes with me. "How great would it be", I thought to myself, "to be able to access my recipes from anywhere in the world?" The website was just a fleeting thought at the time, but the idea quickly grew. Think of the benefits: not only can I access my recipes from anywhere, but I can easily share them with friends on demand, I can provide insight to others on the quality of other people's recipes I have tried (from a cookbook or another website), I can get other's people feedback on some old family recipes before I take the time to try them, etc.

Alas, I made the mistake of mentioning these things to my brother one evening. Suddenly, within 5 minutes, he had purchased me a domain and told me to get started. My first reaction was "Sweet!!!" My second reaction was "Holy crap, I don't know how to make a website! Can't I just do a blogspot???"

My crazy brother

Well, it took me over a year. But thanks to my brother Mike (above), a lot of time sitting around hotel rooms while travelling for work, and a lot of googling, I'm finally proud to say that the website is ready for visitors!!

So far, I have over 150 recipes in my index. Not all have pictures and reviews...but its a start. As I try new recipes (which I do pretty often), I will make sure they get added to the site. Additionally, I will try to post a blog at least once a week with what's going on in my head: seasonal cravings, pot luck plans, party menus, and whatever else might be going on that week. So bookmark this page, and plan to check back soon...I will be posting my 4th of July menu very soon...

Check out my bio page for some more information on the wonders that are me.

PS - Pictures in blogs will typically be food...but thought these were fitting to the story :)
